One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly News!

Term 3 Week 6

Maths

This week in Maths we have been looking at number families! (Inverse) We noticed that multiplication and division questions are related. For example… 2x3=6 3x2=6 6÷3=2 6÷2=3

Towards the end of the week we started looking at important time facts; 7 days in a week, 12 months in a year, 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour and 24 hours in a day. We have also recapped on o’clock, half past and quarter past on the clock!

English

This week in English we have focussed on adjectives and using commas in a list. This has been based around ‘The Lonely Beast.’ We had to create a fact file based on everything we know about the character and his likes and dislikes. We have also looked at Haiku poems in Guided Reading and even had a go at writing some ourselves.

Online Safety

This week has been Safer Internet Week. We have focussed on how children should always have an adult with them when using their device - Should always talk to an adult if they see something they do not like. We discussed; what it means to be ‘online’? When they should play on their device? And what should I do if I don’t like something I see? We discussed this through giving online safety advice to Mitch the Monkey, who gave us lots of scenarios to help him out with.

Home Learning

Over half term we would like you to create a pirate themed prop. For example; a large map, a treasure chest, a skull and crossbones, telescope and compass! The world is your oyster!

We would also like you to really work on telling the time, especially o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to.

Extra challenge: Look at telling the time to the nearest 5 minutes.
