Remember, when problem solving, it is fine to use trial and improvement by starting with a number that could work then adjusting it.  You should use inference to help you solve these problems but keep checking that you are right before moving on to the next challenge.

For your SPAG learning today, click here.  Commas are used in a sentence to separate words in a list and to separate clauses:

For lunch, I ate a sandwich, sausage roll, an apple and a chocolate bar.  'For lunch' is a fronted adverbial, i.e.: the sentence starts with an adverb (gives more information to the verb: when, how, where...), so should be followed by a comma.  What was eaten for lunch is listed so commas should be used.

Despite the heavy rain outside, the boys decided to play outside.  Here, 'despite the heavy rain outside' is a subordinate clause (it doesn't make sense if written as a complete sentence) and 'the boys decided to play outside' is a main clause (it can make sense by itself) so the two clauses should be separated by commas.

There have been countless events during the periods of human history.  Chart your four most interesting periods of time in chronological order and provide as many facts as you can.  You could present this as a timeline.  They can be events that you have learnt at school or just through having your own personal interest.  Examples might include the following:

- Man lands on the Moon in 1969

- AD44 The Romans invade Britain

- The Gunpowder Plot in 1605

- Henry VIII marries 6 wives

- Howard Carter discovers the tomb of Pharoah Tutankhamun in 1922

- William Shakespeare writes Romeo and Juliet around 1597.

- The sinking of the Unsinkable Titanic in 1912

It might be worth researching a period that you learnt previously and now, with deeper comprehension skills, find out more about those events.
