Home Learning - 14.5.20

Good morning Reception. Well done for all your super work at home. We are so proud of you ALL! We cannot wait to see you next. Be sure to get those home learning books filled up to show off when we return to school.

Phonics

Each day of school closure, the Ruth Miskin team will be uploading a Set 1, Set 2 and Set 3 Speed Sounds lesson video to Youtube. We will be following the Set 1 videos. These will be sounds that your child has learned in class already. You will be recapping these sounds at home which will hopefully give your child a sense of confidence.

Today (14.5.20) the video will be focusing on the sound ‘ch’.

After practising writing the sound in your book, please then recap writing the sounds ‘e’ and ‘s’ just as we did last term.

Now can you try writing these three words?

‘chop’ ‘rich’ ‘chip’/’chips’

No-tech phonics

Alternatively, you can recap the sound ‘ch’ with your child yourself.

Practise your Set 1 sounds using phonics flashcards (homemade ones are just as good!)

Now practise writing ‘chop’ ‘rich’ and ‘chip’/’chips’

Writing activity

Maths

Today we are learning to find one more than a given number.

For example one more than 4 is 5.

Find one more than each set of pictures below and write it in your home learning book. Use a number line to help you.

(Use this one or make your own!)

Challenge

Get out a set of toys that has lots of parts like lego, blocks, train tracks or animals for example. Take a handful of toys and count them out. Work out what one more would be.
