Reading: Read pages 8 to 11 of Space Hunt below.
Today, we’d like to see if you can write questions about what you have read. Remember to start your questions with question words such as Who, What, Why, Could, Will, Did, Where, and don’t forget to finish with a question mark - ?
My first questions would be…
How will Badlaw control the galaxy with the fragments?
What will the Krool do if they don’t surrender?
Try to write at least 8 questions.
Writing: Today we will imagine that the Space explorers and the Krool ship will have a high speed chase through space and you will use fronted adverbials to write about the chase! Will the Krool catch the Exelsa? Open the fronted adverbial sheet attached to help you.
First of all think of 4 obstacles that they could come across in space during their chase. I thought of a space monster trying to grab them with his huge mouth and a field of asteroids that they have to dodge in and out of!
Try to include 2 paragraphs to describe the chase and make it exciting! Please send this writing into Mrs Mason and Mrs Cousins – we’d love to see it!
You could start like this:
Before long, the Krool ship powered up its engines and the Excelsa flew off into the darkness! Rapidly, the two ships shot through the depths of space! Without warning, a vicious, long, slimy space snake appeared and tried to swallow the Excelsa! Skilfully, Ant flicked the control stick to the right and they escaped certain death!
You can see that I have started each sentence with a fronted adverbial. Don’t forget to put a comma after each fronted adverbial.
Maths
Today you are going to be estimating answers to calculations. Estimating means that you do not use a method to find the answer, instead you will need to look at the numbers and try to round them in your head and add the numbers mentally.
For example: 622 + 39
622 is near to 620
39 is near to 40
In our heads we can add 620 and 40 to make 660
Remember, you are not looking for an exact answer, you are trying to estimate the answer in your head.

The rocky planets
The 4 planets that are closest to the Sun are called rocky planets as they are made from rocks and metals. They are Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars.
