Monday

Good morning reception! We hope you have all enjoyed your weekend. We have really enjoyed receiving pictures over the week so please, keep sending them in!

Here are just some of your pictures sent in to us!

Phonics

Our phonic lessons will be slightly different from this week. There will be a Yellow Chilli challenge, which will follow the Read Write Inc online programme that we have been doing on the blogs and the Red Chilli Challenge, which will take form of a classroom lesson.

Yellow chilli:

Today (29.6.20) the video will be focusing on the sound ‘v’.

After practising writing the sound in your book, please then recap writing the sounds ‘j’ and ‘r’ just as we did last term.

Now can you try writing these three words?

‘Vet’ ‘van’ ‘veg’

If you need help with how to say the sounds follow this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkXcabDUg7Q

Red Chilli

Say the sounds on the flash cards (homemade ones are just as great!) practice about ten of your sounds.

Your sound today is ‘v’ say ‘v, v, vulture’

Now practice writing the sound ‘v’ until you are confident in forming the sound. As you write it you can say the rhyme to help; down the wing, up the wing.

We are now going to read, hold and write a sentence.

Read the sentence:

He has veg in his van.

(‘He’ is red word: red words (tricky words), are difficult to blend but are key words they need to read and access texts eg. the, said, your).

Take it in turns to say the sentence to your adult and your adult to you. We usually do this 2-4 times each.

We need to start our sentence with a capital letter and put a full stop at the end. Use your signs when saying the sentence again to your adult.

Now watch your adult write the sentence, make sure you help them!

It is your turn. Write the sentence down in your book.

Read your sentence out loud to your adult.

Well done! Great writing.

Writing task.

This week we will be working towards making our own pirate story!

First, we need to think of a name for our main pirate character. Think about what your pirate will wear, what does he look like, how long has he been a pirate for? Draw your character and remember to label as much about your character as you can! This will help us when we write our story.

Maths Let’s start by counting in 2’s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyCr0IgbYcI

We are going to add today! There is a PDF with the learning on ready for you.

Topic

We are going to make a sea sensory bottle, capturing what pirates love to see!

You do not need to use the gel she does in the video you can use baby oil or PVA glue, but it works just as well with water by it’s self. Use things such as stones, sand, bits of bark or wood and get creative! Video on how to make one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7zp7KbxbKY-video

Turn your handprint into a colourful parrot by making the thumb the head by adding a beak and eye and making the fingers the brightly-coloured feathers. Explore different textures of ‘paint’ by adding sand to paint, mixing paint with shaving foam and PVA (stays puffy when dried), mixing glitter with paint or mixing talcum powder with paint. For an added olfactory element put a few drops of scents like lemon, mint or strawberry essence in the corresponding paints. This week we have been deciding on characters and describing parts of our story. Today you are going to write your story. There is a guide to help you, but you can try your own if you like:

The Treasure hunt goes wrong

A long, long time ago, a pirate named __________________ travelled the seas. He wore _______________________________________________ and was __________________________________. His ship was called _______________________ and he loved hunting for treasure. He wanted to find a treasure chest that no one had ever found before. It was on an island in the Caribbean! On his way his parrot named ______________ who was _______________________ squawked “we are off to find the treasure!” The captain spotted the island and got his crew ready to dig for the treasure. As they entered the island they saw another pirate named ____________________________. He was a _____________________ pirate and wore____________________________________. He was there to take the treasure. The two pirates and their crews dug holes all around the island looking for treasure, until the parrot squawked “we’ve found it!” With that, the two pirates pulled at the treasure chest, trying to snatch it from each other. They tugged and tugged until….. CRACK. The treasure chest broke in half and spread all over the floor. There where________(things you wrote for inside your treasure chest)______________________________________________________________. Suddenly, the parrot squawked “look there is two of everything!” The pirates agreed to share the treasure equally and became good friends, sailing the sea together hoping to find more treasure to share.

We are learning how to add using a number line today. There is a PDF attached for you.
