One Childhood, One Chance

What a great week for Team Indigo and Team Royal!

Team Indigo have been absolutely amazing this week with their online learning. It has been great to see your smiley faces online each day. You have worked so hard and have never failed to make us smile. You are all amazing and all superstars. Thank you to the children and the adults who have been so supportive over the past week and a half.

Team Royal have had another fabulous week at school. They have been enjoying the nicer weather we have experienced this week and have been working super hard.

We are very much looking forward to seeing the children at school on Monday morning.

In English this week, we have continued to work hard on our key phonic skills. We are consolidating our knowledge of the set one sounds and some of us are working on our set 2 sounds. We are getting really confident with reading and writing words and we are beginning to read and write simple phrases and sentences.

In Maths this week, we have been learning to sequence familiar events (e.g. ordering events in our daily routine). We have also been using time related words (first, then, next, after that) to sequence making a sandwich or other tasks. The children have also been learning about how to use the following words correctly: today, tomorrow, yesterday, morning, afternoon and evening. At the end of the week, the children have been learning to tell the time for o’clock.

In Topic this week, we have enjoyed listening to the story: Eliot Jones, Midnight Superhero. We have been able to think about the problems which Eliot faces in the story and then think about other problems he may experience. The children have designed and made their own meteor busting rocket launchers and have used drama to retell the story.

Messages and reminders:

Superheroes and Easter

On Thursday 1st April, children are asked to come to school dressed as a 'Superhero'. This needs to be a superhero they have created. They need to consider what super powers they will have and what their outfit will look like. This day is also the day of the Easter bonnet parade. Children can bring in their Easter bonnets, if they wish to, and we will be parading around the classroom. There will be prizes for the most creative efforts. All the children will take part in an Easter Egg hunt on this day too.

Art Competition

Miss Keam has e mailed out about the rotary art competition this week and posters are up around the school. If you wish to take part you need to complete a piece of artwork, using any media, on a3 paper. The theme is Insects and Minibeasts. Entries need to be to Miss Keam by Monday 19th April.

We hope you have all had a good week. We are very proud of each and every one of you.

Have a wonderful weekend and we'll see you on Monday.
