One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly News! w/b 18.5.22

Here is what we’ve been learning…

Read, Write Inc.

This week we have worked so hard in recognising sounds inside words. We have started to dot and dash our words to help us! Take a look at how we do it…

Maths

This week in Maths, we have been looking at ‘Money’

We started off the week by recognising coins. We then moved on to adding amounts together and giving change. If you have a chance to go out shopping! That would be wonderful.

RE

In RE this week we have looked at what Hindus believe, found out about special occasions in a Hindu Childhoods and seen what happens at a Hindu wedding! We then moved on and looked at the wonderful Hindu festivals Divali, Raksha Bandhan and the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Next week

In Maths… We will be looking at ‘Addition’

We will be recapping our learning of addition, by using tens frames and part, part wholes.

In RWI… we will be continuing to practise our sounds, use punctuation, practise our writing and learn the red words.

In Topic… We will be doing some DT and making our own toys! Watch this space…

Tell us about your heroes

The Kent and Medway Charity Team, in collaboration with KCC and the Reconnect Programme, is excited to give children and young people across Kent the opportunity to tell us about their heroes.

Over the past two years we have seen HEROES come in all shapes and sizes and we want you to tell us about your HERO! Your HERO could be your Mum, Dad, Brother, Sister or someone from your local community or even someone famous from where you live. They can be real or fictional and could even be a superhero – it’s up to you! Your entry can be:

A short story

A poem

A short play

An essay

A comic

Or even a sound recording

It really is up to you. The ONLY thing you have to remember is that there needs to be a Hero at the centre of your entry but ALL entries MUST be a maximum of 500 words and completely your own individual and original work!

To enter please do so through this link; https://www.kmcharityteam.co.uk/kbwc/
