One Childhood, One Chance

Friday 17th June 2022

Feeling hot, hot, hot!

The summer season is in full swing and the children have had another wonderful week!

English

The children continue to impress us with their amazing progress. They continue to learn their set 2 and 3 sounds. They are reading and writing with increasing confidence. This week we worked on the skill of labelling. The children labelled parts of their favourite dinosaurs. They used their phonic knowledge to make fantastic attempts at writing some increasingly complicated words.

Maths

In maths this week, we focused on addition. The children have been learning to add by counting on. The can read a number sentence; put the biggest number in their head and count on the smaller number. They have really impressed us with how quickly they picked up on this skill. We have also looked at number lines and how to solve addition calculations using a number line.

Topic

In Topic this week, we have continued our work on Dinosaurs. We learnt the names of some Dinosaurs and some facts about them. We then made up and performed a song to help us retain and recall the key knowledge.

Upcoming Events

Friday 24th June is the school Summer Fair. This will be held on the school field from 3.15-5.15.

We will be going to Wingham on Monday 27th June. Children will need to wear school uniform, but can wear trainers. If it is hot please send them in with plenty of water, sun cream and a sun hat.
