One Childhood, One Chance

Year 2's learning 18th January

Friday 18th January 2018

In Maths, year 2 have been using the column method to add numbers and have also been learning to carry numbers in to the next column. They have also learnt about number families e.g. 4 + 6 = 10, 6 + 4 = 10, 10 - 4 = 6 and 10 - 6 = 4. Please continue to practise times tables at home!

In English, the children have finished learning with Traction Man and have written their own Traction Man adventure. They used ambitious adjectives and adverbs to describe as well as using verbs as sentence openers. The children have been working extremely hard to improve their handwriting as well.

In RE, the children have learnt about Buddhism. They learnt about Buddha, Buddhist statues and read a Buddhist parable. They then acted out this story, thinking about the moral of the story. Check out the pictures below!

For home learning this week, we would like the children to create a model of a character from Traction Man. They could use a toy they already have and decorate it, they could create a model from clay, draw a character or they could use household objects to make one. Some of the characters are: Traction Man, Scrubbing brush, poisonous dishcloth and Doctor Sock!
