Weekly News

Year 5

Year 5

Welcome to our blog. Each week we’ll update you with what we have been learning.

Reminders:

Enjoy your week off. We’ll see you on Monday 25th February.

PE every Wednesday afternoon. Please ensure children have the correct PE kit in school.

Year 5 children are expected to read for at least 10 minutes every day and hand in their reading record daily.

Learning this week:

We have continued our e-safety learning by discussing how to share images safely. In addition, we have explored the statement ‘Social Media v Reality’ and created a display for our classroom.

In English we have planned and written our own Greek Myth. We have been applying a range of writing skills, including varied openers and varied sentence types.

In Maths, we have been revising the four operations and applying them to word problems. We have also been learning how to multiply fractions and how to show this visually.

RE this term is about Christian stories. This week we have been learning about Christian baptism and Paul and the early church. We wrote an acrostic poem and used a Venn diagram to demonstrate this as well as drawing a picture to depict the story of Paul.

Home Learning:

Investigate the amount of waste your household creates in a week.

There is no right or wrong way to complete a Love to Learn task! Please be as imaginative or as creative as you would like! Love to Learn tasks should be returned on the Wednesday following them being set. Whilst books may not be formally marked, in class we will spend time looking at and enjoying what everyone has learned at home and rewards and house points will be given!
