Learning this week:

The Piano, by Aidan Gibbons, has continued to inspire our writing this week. We have been working extremely hard to develop our vocabulary choices and improve our sentence structure. As an additional challenge, we have incorporated advanced punctuation. We have invested a lot of time editing and improving our writing and ensured our involvement levels have been high to achieve the best we can.

In maths, we started the week by completing our work on reading tables. Our learning involved interpreting data and completing the tables based on information that we were presented with. We then moved on to creating relevant graphs based on different types of data. It was important for us to use the correct scale for the graph and plot the data accurately. The week ended with coordinate learning. We plotted coordinates, identified missing coordinates and drew 2D shapes based on given coordinates.

This week we started our new topic ‘Out of Africa’. For our entry point, we became palaeontologists and completed a palaeontology trail, which involved finding pictures of fossils and living specimens from the past and researching which era they belonged to. We also excavated fossils and sketched them.
