Learning this week:

In English, we were introduced to our new book ‘There’s a boy in the girls’ bathroom’ by Louis Sachar.  We’ve met the main characters Bradley Chalkers and Jeff Fishkin as well as Carla Davis and  Mrs Ebbel. Our first pieces of writing have been focused on showing the two boys’ viewpoints about their first meeting and first couple of days at school together. We have tried extremely hard to vary our sentence structures, include high-level punctuation and have been challenged to include modal verbs.

Our maths learning has focused on properties of shape. We have been identifying parallel lines and identifying diagonals on regular and irregular polygons. We have also been finding missing lengths and angles of triangles.

In topic, we learnt about the Ordovician, Silurian and Devonian eras. In pairs, the children then researched facts about a dinosaur of their choice. This research was used to write a commentary in the style of David Attenborough.

SPAG: Create a poster about punctuation. Write a paragraph about ‘There’s a boy in the girl’s bathroom’ using varied punctuation accurately. Try to use brackets, semi colons and dashes.

There is no right or wrong way to complete a Love to Learn task! Please be as imaginative or as creative as you would like! Love to Learn tasks should be returned on the Wednesday following them being set. Whilst books may not be formally marked, in class we will spend time looking at and enjoying what everyone has learned at home and rewards and house points will be given!
