One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly News!

Welcome to Year 1

First of all, we would like to welcome everyone back to school. We hope that you've had a wonderful summer. The children have made a fantastic start to year 1 and have settled back into Chilton life.

Values

This week has been values week. We have introduced the children to the new and improved 'Chilton Way'. We have explored the 3 rules we now have to follow; Be ready; Be Respectful; Be Safe. We have considered what they mean for us in class and how we can ensure we are following the rules. We have also revisited our Chilton Values. These are respect, equality, courage and kindness.

English

This week we have focused on reminding ourselves of the sounds we learnt when we were in Reception. We have revised the important things we need to remember when writing; listening for the sounds, finger spaces, full stops, capital letters and neat hand writing. We have written about some of the lovely things we enjoyed doing over the summer. We have also met our new Read, Write, Inc teachers and look forward to starting RWi in our new groups next week.

Maths

In Maths this week we have focused on counting and number recognition. We have been practising writing our numbers to 20. We have also been counting out different amounts of objects. Next week, we are moving onto more than and less than.

Home Learning

This week our new 'Love to Learn' book will be coming home. Please can you decorate these and send them back into school by Wednesday 18th September.

The powerpoint from our 'Open class' session held this week should have been e mailed out to you. If you have not received it please let us know.
