One Childhood, One Chance

SPORTS NEWS

Sports News!

At the beginning of the month, children from Year 2 took part in a football tournament. Although no scores were kept, the children played well together. They were very skilled at defending and supported each other well. However their greatest strength was their good sportsmanship: with no reminders, they knew to congratulate the opposing team and respect the referee. Well done!
Later in the month, children in Key Stage Two participated in a speed stacking competition, a sport for which we have previously been the best in Kent. Once again, the children performed brilliantly! Incredibly, Sam finished an individual cycle in just over 15 seconds (visit Chilton’s Twitter page to view it)! Unfortunately though, due to illness, Chilton did not have a complete team and so were ineligible to win the tournament. Nonetheless, well done to all those involved.

Last week, Mrs. Law received an email from American Football Development - who have been
supporting us with an after school club this year – which commended Ashley in Year 6 for her ability to
lead, help to direct and raise enthusiasm for the growing sport. It is lovely to hear from people outside
of the school who go out of their way to speak positively about pupils so well done Ashley.
Please continue to bring in suitable PE kit for lessons and sign up to after school clubs. We will
endeavour to cater for as many clubs as we can but as you can appreciate these clubs are run by
teachers who are giving up their time. It is hoped that there is a variety of clubs that provide many
opportunities for children to enjoy sport. However, if would like to speak about the clubs on offer,
please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to proudly announce that Emma Knight, our Sports Coach,
has been nominated for Sports Coach of the Year. This is the first time that a member of staff has been
shortlisted for the award, so many congratulations already.
