Year 5

Welcome to the Year 5 blog. Each week we will update you with what we have been learning.

Reminders:

Easter Holidays start Friday 5th April , returning on Tuesday 23rd  April.

Next term, please bring in a plain white t-shirt (if possible) that can be drawn on . We will need it for our topic.

PE every Wednesday afternoon. Please ensure children have the correct PE kit in school.

Year 5 children are expected to read for at least 10 minutes every day and hand in their reading record daily.

Learning this week:

This week we completed Wolf Brother. We really enjoyed the storyline and the constant action. In our writing lessons, we wrote an alternative ending and applied varied sentence structures.

In maths, we have been learning how to read and write Roman Numerals. We learnt about the Roman numeral rules and completed challenges associated with them.

In topic, we learnt about Alfred the Great and wrote in role to the future advising them on how to be ‘great’. We also analysed some pictures of the Bayeux Tapestry and learnt about the Battle of Hastings.

RICHBOROUGH ROMAN FORT

On Wednesday, we visited Richborough’s Roman Fort. We have fun exploring the ruins and museum.

Home Learning:

Next term is our ‘Human Body’ topic, show us what you know about the human body by creating a model or by drawing pictures. You can focus on one organ or several.

There is no right or wrong way to complete a Love to Learn task! Please be as imaginative or as creative as you would like! Love to Learn tasks should be returned on the Wednesday following them being set. Whilst books may not be formally marked, in class we will spend time looking at and enjoying what everyone has learned at home and rewards and house points will be given!
