One Childhood, One Chance

Friday 26th March 2021

The children have had lots of fun this week with a range of practical activities to support their learning and with the better weather; there have been more opportunities to get outside with their learning.

English

This week the children have been focussing on homelessness – Linked to the text ‘Way Home’ They have researched homelessness and used cardboard boxes as a means of communicating what it is like to be homeless. The children then wrote a biography of the main character-Shane.

Maths

This week, the children have completed their learning of percentages: developing the important life skill of finding percentages of amounts and then calculated percentage increase and decrease. The children applied these skills by making flapjacks on Friday.

Topic

This week, the children have made a mirror maze: using mirrors to guide a light through the maze to a target to apply their understanding of how light reflects. To consolidate this understanding, the children made kaleidoscopes on Tuesday. At the end of the week the children used their knowledge of circuits to design a buzz wire game that they will be making next week.

Notices

Please can the children continue to read at home for 10-15 minutes each night. They should also be practising their times tables regularly and logging into TTRS.

Next Thursday, the children are invited to bring in an Easter bonnet that they have made, if they wish to do so. They will also have an Easter Egg hunt in school. We will finish at the usual time of 3:20.
