One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly News 24.10.24

We have reached the end of a long term 1. The children have been incredible this week; you would not believe that they are all tired after a long 8 week term - well done Year 4!

English

In English this week we have re-visited character descriptions and written a description of the Space-Bat-Angel-Dragon from the Iron Man. We have learnt to use prepositions, verbs and adverbs but the children also used a lot of the other skills that they have learnt earlier in the term to write some amazing pieces!

Next term, we will be reading a new fantasy adventure book called The Ice Palace.

Maths

In maths this week we have been learning to tell the time using 24-hour digital clocks e.g. 9:30pm in 24-hour digital time is 21:30. We have been matching analogue clocks to 24-hour digital clocks.

Next term we will be learning about equivalent fractions.

RE

In RE this week we have been learning about Sikh rites of passage. We have found out about how Sikhs name their children, about their wedding ceremonies and about Sikh funerals and their beliefs in life after death.

Love to Learn

Over the half term we would like you to find out something about our next topic - the Ancient Egyptians. You can find out about anything about this ancient civilisation that interests you; maybe the pyramids, Ancient Egyptian's houses, clothes, what did they eat, hieroglyphics, pharaohs or mummification. You can present what you find out in anyway you'd like - you could make a model, a poster, do a painting or write about your findings, it is up to you! We look forward to seeing what you find out after half term. Please hand this challenge in by Wednesday 6th November.

Don't forget to read and play TTRS over the half term too!

Dates to remember

Monday 4th November - Start of term 2

Parents Evenings - Indigo - Tuesday 5th November and Wednesday 6th November

                                   - Royal - Wednesday 6th November and Thursday 7th November

We hope you have a lovely half term.
