It has been a great second week at school! It has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm towards their learning.  

English 

Continuing from last week's learning, we created a planet that our aliens live on. We used these as inspiration for our writing in English. We used figurative language to create our setting description. To help us improve our writing, we typed our writing in to AI to see if our writing created the image we wanted it to. 

Next week, we will be writing in role as Jamie from our whole class text. We will be writing a diary entry and an email to Dad on the International Space Sation. We will be thinking about the type of language we use when writing informally. 

Maths 

In Maths this week, we have been learning about equivalent fractions and fractions of amounts. We have revisited learning what a numerator and a denominator is and linked this to equal parts of a whole. 

Next week, we will be revisiting 2D and 3D shapes and learning about regular and irregular polygons. 

Thematic / PSHE / Values 

This week, we have been looking at what it means to be kind. We made kindness buckets and then spread our kindness by filling other children’s buckets with kind comments. We also reminded ourselves that at Chilton we are a telling school and we explored the acronym: STOP (Start Telling Other People). 

Next week, we will be going back to our Thematic learning ‘Stargazers’ and developing our knowledge of how the planets move in our Solar System. We will be doing lots of practical activities this week to help us understand. 

Love to Learn 

Please continue with your 2 week challenge.  It is due in on Wednesday 20th November. The details are below: 

 We would like you to make a spaced themed diorama or model. We would like you to make something 3D. It could be a model of the solar system, a paper mâché planet or something else space themed! Be creative and enjoy yourselves!  

We have also set lots of books to read on MyOn (they will be live from Monday). They are linked to our Stargazer thematic lessons. Please record in your reading record when you have read one. It counts towards your 4x weekly reading at home sessions. As we have had issues with connecting MyOn and AR, please look out for this when you login to MyOn. It will link your accounts and mean you can see the Space books and take quizzes on MyOn.

17th December – Year 5 and 6 Church performance at 10am 

19th December – Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 Christmas party day (party clothes to be worn) 

20th December – Christmas jumper day (children can wear usual school uniform with a Christmas jumper) 

20th December – School Christmas dinner 

20th December – Last day of school; School finishes at 2pm; No after school club on this day
