    Special Christmas Visitor!

    Guess who popped into Year 1 today! Only FATHER CHRISTMAS! Team Ocean and Sky had lots of questions for him! Team Sky even sang him a song. We are very lucky. Best behaviour from now on, he is watching!

    Autumn Hunt!

    Last week Year 1 went on an Autumn hunt. We searched for pine cones, bare trees, orange leaves and berries! We used our new skill  of using tally marks to represent the number of items we found! We had a great time!

    Exit Point - A day in the life!

    To celebrate the end of our topic, we made some delicious scrummy scones! We made cheese and fruit scones where we had to measure out the ingredients, mix them all up and mould them into the correct shape. We hope you enjoyed them as much as we did :)

    Measuring fun!

    This week in year 1, we have been looking at measurement and have learnt to use a ruler. Some of us have been measuring lots of different objects and others are even learning to compare two different lengths! Wow! Amazing learning!

    Children in Need!

    In Year 1 we had a fabulous day making Pudsey Ears for Children in Need on Friday. We even did some lovely writing including describing words. We discussed why we raise money for Children in Need and spoke about how we would feel in different situations.  We had a wonderful afternoon.

    A house for the Stick Man!

    After reading the Julia Donaldson, some of us decided to create a safe house for the Stick Man! We used lots of sticks and leaves to create a structure. Some of us even created our own Stick Man to see if the house would be big enough!

    Remembrance Day!

    Today we learnt why we wear the poppy! We  learnt that in the First World War, there was a field of poppies and that a famous poem mentions them. We learnt that we wear the poppy to remember the wounded.
