One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly News 01.11.19

Welcome back!!!!

Welcome back to school. We hope that you have had a fantastic half term and the rain didn't spoil your fun too much.

In maths this week, we have been learning about sequencing numbers. To start the week, we used words such as greater than and less than to compare numbers. We also use the symbols < and > to compare two numbers. We then started to look at number patterns and number sequences and had to either find the missing number or continue the sequence e.g. 5, 10, ?, 20, 25. We looked at sequences where numbers were increasing or decreasing in 1's, 2's, 5's and 10's.

Next week in maths we will be learning about money. We will be learning to recognise coins and learning to exchange money e.g. knowing that 5 10p coins is worth the same as a 50p coin.

In Topic this week we have learned about our school value of kindness. We have explored what kindness is and had a go at doing some random acts of kindness around school. Hopefully, you will notice some random acts of kindness at home.

Love to learn

Over the next two weeks in maths we are learning about money and adding up coins. For your love to learn we would like you to take your child to the shop and pay for something with coins. Alternatively, you could set up a pretend shop at home, where your child could 'pay' for some items. You could draw what you bought in the love to learn book and draw around the coins used. This home learning is due in on Wednesday 13th November.

Have a great weekend!
