Chilton Primary School

One Childhood, One Chance

Week ending 4th September 2020

Welcome

In Team Cyan the teacher is Mrs Walker and in Team Turquoise is Miss Wright and Mrs Cheshire. We want to say a massive hello and welcome to year 1! We can not wait for this year... fingers crossed we get a whole one this year!

Wow! What an amazing two days we have had back at school.

Both Team Cyan and Team Turquoise have astounded us with their positive attitudes and eagerness to learn. Children have remembered the Chilton Way and have welcomed each other back into their lives with the biggest of smiles.

As a team, we have been delighted at the manners the children show and how kind they are to one another.

Over the past two days, we have been spending lots of time getting to know one another, talking about school expectations regarding learning and behaviour and we have practised our phonics.

We are spending time listening to each child read so we can assess their levels. Reading records and books will be sent out next Friday. Reading book band levels slightly differ from those in reception, so please do not be deterred if your child comes home with a different colour.

We have lots of belongings which have been passed on to us from the reception classes, could we please ask that you send your child in with a plastic bag next week. This will help us send home any belongings your child may have left from last year.

Reminders

PE is on a Tuesday, please ensure your child has their PE kit in school.

Please can you make sure that all of your child's uniform (including their PE kit) has their name in it so it is easier to find the owner. We have sharpie pens at school if you need us to write it for you, please ask.

The children have been so amazing and brave coming in to the school in the mornings, we would just like to remind parents to leave their child at the door and not enter the conservatory or classroom.

It is also very important that children do not bring any home belongings into school.

During term 1 there will be no home learning set. All we ask is that you read on a regular basis with your child. This is tracked in school with certificates given to regular readers.

Any important news will be posted on the weekly blog so please check in every week to keep up to date.

We look forward to our year ahead together.
