Term 5 Week 2
This week we have been learning about money! We have been recognising the coins 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2. We then used this knowledge to combine amounts and compare amounts. Later in the week, we created our own clues for coins J
In RE this week, we have been learning about Hinduism. We started the week by learning the story of Rama and Sita. Later in the week we learnt about the festival Raksha Bandhan. We learnt how Hindu’s celebrate the importance of family and siblings.
You will see a few slight changes over the next week in year one’s morning routine. We are starting to introduce children to ‘Morning Journals.’ This will be your child’s diary, they will need to complete an activity on the board i.e. how are you feeling today? What did you have for breakfast etc. Then they will have an opportunity to write whatever they please in their journal. This will be followed by a well-being activity, such as Yoga! This is in preparation for their transition into year 2 and also an opportunity to express their feelings and develop their writing skills.
“My Home Town”
Where we grow up plays a huge part in our lives – shaping who we are, what we do, who we know and where we go! For your home learning project for ‘Good to be Me’, over the course of Term 5, we would like you to create something that tells us all about what ‘My Home Town’ means to you. This home learning can take any form – there is no right or wrong way but you can be as creative as you like!
- Swimming is on Thursdays. Please avoid putting children in tights and bikinis (If possible.)
- Please remember to tie hair back.
- The sun has been shining, please be prepared for hotter weather. I.e. hats, sun cream.
- Children are always encouraged throughout the day to have a drink of water. There is also plenty of opportunities at break and lunch times to have a drink.
