Weekly News!

Term 2 Week 2

This week in Maths we started looking at odd and even numbers! We now know that if a number ends in 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8 it is even! We then moved on to multiplication using an array. First we used peg boards to support us, then moved on to drawing our own. We finished off the week by showing multiplication through repeated addition!

This week we have started our new topic ‘The Circus is coming to Town’ Have you heard the saying ‘laughter is the best medicine’? Laughing and having fun are such an important part of our lives. We all love being entertained and enjoying ourselves. For a very long time, the circus has been a place where people, from many parts of the world, go to be entertained, laugh and have fun. Through this topic we will be covering aspects of Art, History, Science, Technology, Geography, Society and International. This week we kicked it off with some Art work! We had to design and plan our own clown mask, discuss what processes to use and discuss ways to improve it. After much deliberation, we thought pens would be best to use as they wouldn’t ‘smudge.’ Then we created our masterpieces!

This week in English we have been focussing on writing in the past tense, we practised this, by writing diary entries as a snail, whale and the children (Who saw the snail slithering on a whiteboard!) We then used all our skills and created our own newspaper article!

Home Learning

We would love you to make your own circus themed prop. This can be made any way, shape or form, made from any material you wish! I.e. A big top, juggling balls or tight rope! Enjoy!

Christmas Song!

As you may have already heard we are recording our very own Christmas Song. We would like to invite pupils to design the inside sleeve for the c.d. The front of the sleeve would need to have the title of the song on, which is 'I believe in...'. It would also need to say by the pupils of Chilton Primary School. Miss Cheshire will pick a winner whose design will be used. All entrants need to be handed in to Miss Cheshire by Wednesday 20th Novemeber.
