One Childhood, One Chance

Home Learning: Week beginning Monday 23rd March

Monday 23rd March:

Morning guys! We hope everyone is keeping well - we thought we would try and keep a normal routine for you as much as possible so here it goes for today!

Playlist: Elvis Presley (January 8, 1935 – August 16, 1977), also known simply as Elvis, was an American singer and actor. Regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, he is often referred to as the "King of Rock and Roll" or simply "The King".

Fact of the day: A shark is the only known fish that can blink with both eyes.

Morning Journal: If you could have anything in the world what would it be? Why?

Feelings: Miss Davey is feeling on yellow today because she is feeling a little uneasy and out of routine. What colour are you on? Why?

Guided Reading: Listen to the audio books of 'How a camel got his hump'

Answer these comprehension questions

English:  Write a diary entry of the camels day. What happened in the morning? What happened next? Use a range of sentence openers such as afterwards, already, always, immediately, after a while, as soon as I could, eventually.

Maths:  4 operations learning: Addition – column method, Subtraction – column method, Multiplication – jottings, Division – sharing circles.

Topic: Learn about a famous pirate from the past. (Sir Francis Drake, Henry Morgan, William Kidd, Blackbeard)

Helping at home challenge

Each day we will set your child a helping at home challenge - to teach them that we all need to pull together. Today, their helping at home challenge is to help you do the washing up! We'll be extra proud if they can help you at home!

We hope you have a wonderful day!

Lots of love

Miss Davey and Miss Keam

P.S we will add to this blog post daily by 9 each morning :)

Tuesday 24th March:

Morning Year 2!

Playlist: Elvis Presley

Fact of the day: It can take ten minutes for a falling raindrop to travel from a rainforest’s thick canopy to the floor!

Morning Journal: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Why?

Feelings: Miss Keam is feeling on green today because she is calm. What colour are you on? Why?

Guided Reading:  Looking at just the front cover of the book ‘Window’ by Jeannie Baker – Predict what you think it will be about? (No cheating!)Shape

English: Here is the story 'Window'

We would like you to retell the story from the point of view of Sam. How does he feel?

Describe what you can see and hear. You could use a range of adventurous adjectives and remember you need to write in first person.

Art: Draw/Paint/Create another view from the same window before the first image in the book and / or after the last image in the book.

Maths: Today in Maths we would like to you to take a look at Money!

1) Remind yourself of the coins – what do they look like? What amount do the coins hold?

2) With real coins, make amounts. For example, make 20p, £1 etc! You can record this in anyway that you like. This might be a calculation e.g. 10p+ 5p+5p=20p or in jottings form. (Questions attached - How much is in the jar)
