Helping at home challenge

Each day we will set your child a helping at home challenge - to teach them that we all need to pull together. Today, their helping at home challenge is to help you do the washing up! We'll be extra proud if they can help you at home!

We hope you have a wonderful day!

Lots of love

Maths: Today in Maths we would like to you to take a look at Money!

1) Remind yourself of the coins – what do they look like? What amount do the coins hold?

2) With real coins, make amounts. For example, make 20p, £1 etc! You can record this in anyway that you like. This might be a calculation e.g. 10p+ 5p+5p=20p or in jottings form. (Questions attached - How much is in the jar)

Could you include some questions in your letter and describe how you can make things better, to help resolve the situation.

Maths: Today we would like you to concentrate on looking at capacity focussing on millilitres and litres.

1) MOS – TTRS for 15 minutes to get your brain ready for some Maths learning! If you have forgotten your log in details just give us an email and we can send them over :) Also, there is another game on TTRS, I don't know if anyone else has spotted it? It is called NumberBots. You can use your same log in and it should work!

2) Search around the house for a variety of containers/ bottles that show different measurements. Can you order them from what would hold the smallest to the largest amount?

3) Fill up different containers to specific amounts e.g. 500ml, 1 litre.

(There are 3 documents attached atthe bottom of the post for capacity - capacity colouring, reading capacity and a capcity quiz!)

Music: On a Wednesday, we usually have music with Mr Redwood. So we would like you to have a go at learning this song. It is the British Sign Language for ‘You Are My Sunshine’. Myself and Miss Keam are currently trying to learn this too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0GJMvA05As

Helping at home challenge : Today we would like you to help with making a bed! Make sure you listen to your grown up and watch carefully.

Have a fabulous day and also just a big thank you for your emails. We love seeing what you are getting up to and it is so lovely to have so many thoughtful words.

Lots of love  and squishy cuddles,

Write a few sentences that describe each scene of the book 'Window'. Use these as narration when showing the pictures to an audience.

Remember to use adjectives when describing 😊

Maths: Today we would like you to look at length and how we measure it. We usually use cm and m!

1) To get your brain in gear for Maths, play bingo! This could simply be numbers, or addition/ subtraction/multiplication/division!

2) With a body part (hand, foot, arm or leg!) measure large objects in your house for example the table in the classroom is 4 hands long or half a leg of Miss Davey’s!

3) If you have a ruler, measure objects from around the house. Remember to make sure you start at 0 to get an accurate measurement!

4) Have a go at drawing specific lengths. (Sheets attached)

Topic: For ‘A Pirates Life For Us!’ We need to know all about the world all around us. For your topic challenge today we would love for you to recap your learning about continents. We learnt about this in Year 1 so we wonder if you can remember the 7 continents? If not, here is the song that we loved that helped us out!  (Sheet attached)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6DSMZ8b3LE

  • How many continents are there?

  • What are they called?

  • Which is the biggest continent?

  • Which is the smallest continent?

  • If you could live in any continents, which would it be? Why?

Helping at home challenge

We would love you to help with part of the gardening; this could be watering plants, weeding, planting new plants or just having a tidy up in the garden.

Please feel free to send us emails, videos or pictures as we love receiving them! We will make sure we reply and watch this space for some videos from us!

Friday 27th March:

Good morning to the BEST teams!

At the beginning of the week, a few children with Miss Miles and Miss Gutherie, created cards for the wonderful NHS workers thanking them for everything that they are doing for us. Today we received this wonderful photo of a ward in Guys Hospital in London with the cards on display for all to see. Just WOW! I know a few Year 2 children were the makers of these cards - well done guys!

Playlist: Elvis Presley  - last day of Elvis so make the most of it! Do you have a favourite song?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zf2VYAtqRe0&list=RDQMfrnh9s4kEPc&start_radio=1

Fact of the day:   Strawberries are technically not a berry! Weird but true! Berries by definition have their seeds on the inside, whilst strawberries hold their 200 seeds on the outside. MIND BLOWN!

Morning Journal:   We would love you to tell us what you had for breakfast?

Miss Davey: For breakfast I had yummy porridge,a crisp pink lady apple and a cup of tea! The best part had to be the pink lady apple because they are the best things EVER.

Feelings: Miss Keam and Miss Davey are feeling on yellow today because they are a little frustrated because they are missing their lovely  year 2s. However they are also feeling happy because of the wondereful messages on the padlet! Mrs Gale showed us how to do it - what a whizz she is!  What colour are you on? Why?

Guided Reading:  We would like you to summarise what has happened in the book the ‘Window’

 English:  https://youtu.be/4JLVneJa1Is

If you could live in Sam’s house at just one point in the story, which would it be? Why?

We would like you to create the picture of the time you would like to live in Sam’s house and write an explanation of why. Please include your reasons and use adjectives to describe. Remember to write in first person. (I)

Maths: For Maths today we would like you to concentrate on measuring mass. Mass is measured in grams or kilograms usually.

1) MOS – Go on to TTRS and look for the app down the side called NumberBots. Log in with your TTRS log in and have a go!

2) Look around the house for objects, double check on the back as it should say how heavy they are! Can you order objects from the lightest to heaviest?

3) Have a go at measuring your own ingredients out for lunch.

There are documents 2 documents attached! (Measure Mass Activity Cards and Reading Mass)

Topic: Yesterday you learnt about the continents that take up a lot of the Earth but the other part that makes up the Earth are the oceans! Todays task is to learn about the 5 oceans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6BE4VcYngQ

  • How many oceans are there?

  • What are the oceans called?

  • Which is the biggest ocean?

Helping at home challenge

We would love you to help your grown-ups do some washing today! This could be splitting the washing piles, putting it into the washing machine, hanging up washing or helping putting it away!

P.S. keep an eye out for a video later on!

Lots of love

Miss Davey and Miss Keam
