Term 1 Week 1
Welcome back! We hope you all had a fantastic break and are ready for the year ahead.
This week in Maths we have looked at place value using base 10. We have even been partitioning 3-digit numbers! We looked at comparing numbers, using greater than, less than and equals.
We have been focussing on our school values this week and understanding what they mean. We took part in an assault course and discussed how our values were incorporated. We have also looked at our NEW school rules! ‘Be Ready, Be Respectful and Be Safe.’ We had a great assembly where Mrs Law discussed what they mean and why we have rules at Chilton. We were very proud of Year 2, as they made some brilliant contributions! ‘One Childhood, One Chance’ is our school moto and we wanted to know what our children thought it means or means to them. They came up with some amazing ideas and thoughts. One of their thoughts was ‘To learn, have fun and be good.’ :)
This week in English we started a lovely new book called ‘Rapunzel’ by Beth Woollvin. We have read with expression, freeze framed scenes, described the characters, answered questions about it and have been using some brilliant adjectives in our writing! We even went on a word hunt to change our simple adjectives into more adventurous ones! Wow! What a busy week we have had.
