Weekly News!

Term 1 Week 5

This week in Maths we have been looking at subtraction! At the beginning of the week, we started using base ten to demonstrate how to take away. We moved on to using a hundred square to subtract and looked at how it differs from adding. Now we can show a subtraction calculation on an empty number line. We used some amazing language, such as decrease, reduce, minus and less than.

This week in ‘People of the Past’ we have learnt all about ‘Artists!’ We looked at the famous artist Picasso and had ago at creating our own cubism portraits. We then looked at Turner and practised creating our own water paint, landscape pictures! WE LOVE THIS TOPIC!

This week in English we have moved on to a new story ‘The Three Billy Goat Gruffs!’ We have sequenced the story and created our own cone goats and role played the story. We have started looking at verbs and adverbs, we have played verb charades and we had to spot the verbs in the story! Miss Keam and Miss Davey cannot believe how exciting our writing is getting!
