One Childhood, One Chance

Tuesday Home Learning 31.3.20

Good morning Year 3. Hope you have recovered from the Joe Wicks workout this morning and are ready for some home learning.

Here is your home learning for today:

English

Reading – Find the book ‘Animal Tricksters’ on The Oxford Owl website and read the story ‘Monkey and Mango Island’ up to page 25. Don’t read any further yet! Predict what you think will happen next. How will the Monkey get back across to the main land? Once you have written your prediction, read the rest of the story. Were you correct?

Writing – Write a setting description about the Mango Island. Include the dangerous river full of crocodiles in your description. Use expanded noun phrases in your description and include complex and compound sentences. You could start with this:

The bright, golden banks of Mango Island glisten in the bright, glowing sunlight. The smell of juicy, ripe mangoes linger in the air, as the slim, elegant palm trees sway in the wind.

Challenge – Include figurative language such as metaphors, similes and personification.

Maths

We will be continuing with time today, looking at the 24 hour digital clock. Complete the sheet that you feel matches your ability. Only move on to this if you feel confident about your learning from yesterday, otherwise go over the slides explaining the 12 hour digital clock and attempt another task.

Topic

Find sheets attached to complete showing different forces acting at the same time. Try to fill in the sheets, showing which forces are in action and which direction they are pushing or pulling. Remember to try and complete the learning from yesterday and email it to either Mr Mason or Mrs Cousins. You can also post it on the Padlet on the Padlet blog post or show us on Instagram with the hashtag #chiltonhomelearning.
