One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly Blog: 10/9/21

English

This week, we have started reading our new book 'The Princess and The Bear King'. We have used the story to help us describe characters such as the bear, the Princess and the King and Queen. We have used expanded noun phrases and similes to describe the character's appearance and exciting verbs and adverbs to describe their actions and movements.

Maths

In maths, we have been recapping place value, with a focus on partitioning and finding 1, 10 and 100 more. The children were asked to partition a number in different ways and to use their knowledge of place value to find how adding 1, 10 or 100 affects the value of the number.

PSHE

We have been looking at The Chilton Values this week, discussing their meaning and why they are important both in and out of school. As a class, we created Chilton Superheroes that represent each value and came up with their strengths and weaknesses. We also discussed what it was to be a perfect partner and designed flowers that show all the things needed to be a wonderful, kind and considerate learning partner.

Love To Learn

Your 'Love To Learn' task is to create your own island! Or Topic for this term is Island Life, and we would like to begin it with you designing and creating your very own island. You can either draw your island and show the features that it has or create your island from whatever materials you choose (card, lego, wool, clay...)! We look forward to seeing your wonderful artwork. You have 2 weeks to do this, so please bring them in on by Wednesday 22nd.
