One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly blog post - 12/11/21

English

This week we have been writing our own version of Into The Forest. We have been using compound sentences and fronted adverbials to make our narrative descriptive and exciting. Next week we will be starting suspense writing, creating tension by using new skills such as rhetorical questions, figurative language and short, sharp sentences.

Maths

In maths, we have been looking at 2D shapes and their properties. We have been exploring both regular and irregular shapes, lines of symmetry and how to describe shapes by knowing their properties.

RE

We have been looking at the Hindu celebration called Diwali in RE this week. We have heard the story of Rama and Sita and how it inspired the celebration of lights. We have made Diwali lamps and Diwali cards whilst exploring how and why Diwali is celebrated.

Love To Learn

This week's Love To Learn task is to create an anti-bullying poster. In support of Anti-bullying day, you will need to create a poster to show why bullying is unacceptable and how we should all choose kindness. You can use any materials you would like and make it as big, colourful and creative as you can!

Messages

On Monday 15th it is Odd Sock Day to celebrate anti-bullying. Please make sure your children come in wearing brightly coloured, odd socks!

Friday 19th is Pyjama Day for Children in Need. For a £1 donation, children will be able to come in wearing their pyjamas. Please make sure they are wrapped up warm though.

It is also parent book look Friday after school. If you would like to look at your children's work over the past term and a half, then you will be able to come into the classroom and look through their work books. Collection will still be on the playground, however you will then be able to come down to the classroom with your child.
