One Childhood, One Chance

Year 4 Weekly News 1.4.21

English

This week in English we concentrated on information texts. Due to us recently reading ‘Fish in the forest’, we based our information texts on different types of fish in the world. On Monday looked a fish in general, Tuesday piranhas and Wednesday lionfish. Throughout the week we focused on the four sentence types with compound and complex sentences.

Maths

In Maths this week, the children have been learning to solve problems. Monday, we focused on solving problems by finding all the possibilities, we used trial and error, perseverance and working systematically. Tuesday, we moved on to solving number puzzles and Wednesday we concentrated on solving logic puzzles.

RE

During our RE this week we have been learning about the story of Jesus and why Easter is celebrated. Children learnt about what Christians believe happened to Jesus during this time of year and why it happened to him. The children learnt about Jesus travelling to Jerusalem, the last supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, his crucifixion and the resurrection of Jesus.
