One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly News

Check out what Year 4 have been up to this week!

In our Maths lessons this week, we have been looking at different ways of representing data. We have learnt how to use Venn diagrams and Carroll diagrams and represented both numerical data and data involving the children in class. We also refreshed our knowledge on finding fractions of amounts.

In English, we have continued reading ‘Wizards of Once’ and Xar has been involved in an exciting spelling battle with his brother, Looter. We used persuasive language to argue for and against keeping sprites as pets and whether wizards or warriors were better. We also created our own versions of the Spelling Books shown in the story.

In Topic, we have started our final IPC unit of the year, ‘The Nature of Life’. For our entry point, we went on a wildlife hunt and photographed and drew all the different living things we found in the forest school. We also learnt about MRS GREN and life processes to show that something is alive.

The children have also spent time with their new teachers this week, both on Thursday’s transition morning and for additional topic lessons.

There is no right or wrong way to complete a Love to Learn task! Please be as imaginative or as creative as you would like! Love to Learn tasks should be returned on the Wednesday following them being set. Whilst books may not be formally marked, in class we will spend time looking at and enjoying what everyone has learned at home and rewards and house points will be given!

There is a MyMaths task set, due Wednesday 10th July 2019.
