One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly News

Look what Year 4 have been up to this week.

Weekly News – 12th July 2019

What a wonderful trip to France today! Thank you to all the children you remained sensible throughout the day.

In our Maths lessons this week, we have been studying Time. We have looked at and practised various methods of how to convert between the 12 and 24 hour clock, how to convert between different units of time (eg. Seconds to minutes) and solving problems through the hour. We also learnt some interesting methods how to remember how many days are in each month.

In English, we have continued reading ‘Wizards of Once’ and there has been a witch attack! Luckily, Wish was on hand to use the enchanted sword and save the day. Our focus this week was on using both reported and direct speech. We use speech in newspaper articles, considering all the features of a newspaper and in narrative.

In Topic, we have continued to work on our Nature of Life unit. We have learned all about how different food chains work and how animals have made different adaptations based on their habitats and lifestyles. The children also spent some additional transition time with Mrs Rowland-Hill, Mrs Barlow and Mr Lamprell this week.

IMPORTANT DATES:

SUMMER FAYRE – Saturday 13th July

CINEMA TRIP – Thursday 18th July (Letters have been sent home. Children will need a packed lunch)
