Check out what Year 4 have been up to this week!
In our Maths lessons this week, we have been looking at different methods of how to divide. We have looked at the relationships between numbers in number families and division being the inverse of multiplication. We then used number lines and place value counters to help us understand groupings.
In English, we wrote a newspaper report based on the amazing battle in Iron Man Chapter 5. We wrote our introduction, focusing on including the 5 W’s. Before writing our different paragraphs in chronological order, past tense, third person and using time conjunctions. We reviewed the Iron Man book in Guided Reading and looked at a poem by the Iron Man’s author, Ted Hughes, called ‘The Crow’.
Thank you to all the parents who attended our Harvest festival assembly on Tuesday afternoon. The children were really pleased to share the Harvest poems that they had written this week. Team Azure and Team Peacock continued their French lessons on Friday afternoon. Year 4 also had an exciting end to the week! Stacy, our drama specialist, came and did an introductory session with each team. Each team is going to prepare and perform their very own performance, to which parents will be invited, in January!
We are currently encouraging the children to play as much Times Tables Rockstars (ttrockstars.com) at home. When logging in, please select ‘Chilton Primary School, Ramsgate’. Children’s log ins are the same as their MyMaths log ins (please see your teacher if you need your child’s log in).
For their home learning task, we would like the children to pick their favourite for of art ‘media’ (eg. painting, drawing, photography, textiles, murals, sculpture, computer graphics) and research its history.
