Chilton Primary School

One Childhood, One Chance

Junior Leadership Team

Our Junior Leadership Team is headed up by our eight elected House Captains from Year 6. There are then two members of each year group from years 2 to 6 elected by their classes to join and complete the Junior Leadership Team (JLT).

JLT play an important part in giving all of the children at Chilton a voice. They meet regularly and discuss ideas and points of view raised by their classes. They also conduct pupil surveys on important issues like bullying.

At the moment, JLT are working on fundraising ideas as they would love to be able to buy go-karts and a bouncy castle to use on the playgrounds (our most recent event was a pyjama day in February and we also have a bake sale planned).

They have also recently completed their own school improvement plan that ties in with the key priorities of the Senior Leadership Team! (attached below)

Chilton’s JLT also contribute to the Viking Pupil Council – our next Trust wide meeting will be held in term 4.

The ‘Viking Pupil Council’ is made up of children from each of the Viking Academy Trust primary schools. Ten representatives from each school meet together to form our ‘Viking Pupil Council’ (VPC)

The aim of the VPC is to provide a platform to allow Viking children to work in partnership to strengthen the educational provision in each of their schools.

‘One Childhood One Chance’ is our Viking mantra and the driving force to ensure we are always looking to improve.

The Viking Pupil Council representatives share the best of what’s happening in each school and collaborate to make things even better for all Viking children!

Representatives of Chilton Primary School attended the official opening of Ramsgate Arts Primary School. We joined with children from Upton Juniors and RAPS and toured the school and attended a wonderful assembly to celebrate the end of a long journey, leading to the completion of RAPS and their new building. This was a fantastic celebration and a great way to congratulate the staff and children - who shared our school site for two years and who will always have a special place in our hearts!
