The School Day

Here is an outline of a typical day at Chilton Primary School:

  • 7:30 - Breakfast Club begins

  • 8:40 - Classroom doors open and the school day begins. Children come in to classes and complete early morning work activities and routines (reading book changes etc.)

  • 8:50 - Doors close and registration

  • 9:00 - Assembly (whole school Monday, Wednesday and Friday) Key Stage assemblies on Tuesday and Thursday

  • English and Maths lessons, including Read, Write Inc. in Reception and Year 1 take place in the morning

  • KS1 and Reception playtimes are flexible but a 15 minute playtime will take place between lessons

  • KS2 Break time 10:45 - 11:00

  • Reception, Years 1, 3 and 5 lunchtime - 12:05-1:00

  • Years 2, 4 and 6 lunchtime - 12:30 - 1:25

  • A range of lunchtime clubs are on offer

  • Afternoon lessons will cover topics within the International Primary Curriculum and PE sessions (including swimming)

  • KS1 children will have an afternoon playtime

  • KS2 PE - Wednesday afternoons for Years 5 and 6; Thursday afternoons for Years 3 and 4

  • Swimming lessons also take place on Wednesday or Thursday afternoons. Each year group from Year 1 to 6 swim for one term in the year at Ramsgate Leisure Centre.

  • The school day ends at 3:15

  • After school club (Chill Town) runs from 3:15 until 6:15

  • Additonal extra curricular activities and clubs run after school throughout the year. These change regularly.
