Maths

This week, we have been working with the four operations to solve problems involving money.  We have understood how money needs to be written using 2 decimal places (for example £25.65) and read the questions carefully to comprehend what operation to use.

English

The children have started their new text, 'The London Eye Mystery'.  This is a really fun story that is about a little boy 'whose brain works differently' who helps to solve how his cousin disappeared from the London Eye.  We have also written a non-chronological report about the iconic landmarks of London.

Thematic

We completed our topic of Paths to Peace with a geography lesson where children explored how trade links are influenced by natural resources locational position in the world.  We learned that products such as bananas are shipped across the world before reaching Britain from hotter countries.

We also thoroughly enjoyed the Viking Games on Tuesday at Upton.  Here are a selection of photos from then:

We also welcomed the police on Monday, who talked to the children about how they can stay safe in and out of school.  They also reminded the children that the police would be a presence for them when they get to secondary school.  We had time to ask questions about policing and an officer even handcuffed the children!

Love to Learn

Based on what you have read so far about the London Eye mystery, write a prediction about what you think has happened to Salim.  How did he disappear on the London Eye?  What has happened to him?  What will happen to him?  You can present this how you wish, including art, poetry, a narrative or a simple prediction.
