One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly news 15.09.2023

The first full week!

We are sending huge congratulations to the children and parents for their perseverance and positivity during the first FULL WEEK of Reception. Well done Team Sapphire and Team Cornflower for a very successful week.

The children have been showing the ‘Chilton way’ and remembering our classroom rules phenomenally- so well done!

This week, we have been reading ‘The Colour Monster’ and have been discussing the importance of our feelings and what can make us feel a certain way. Green being calm, yellow being exited, red being angry and blue being sad. The children have been using the ‘Colour Monster’ displays in class by moving their monster to the emotion they are experiencing. This enables the adults in the room to identify children’s emotions and give opportunity to discuss and find solutions to getting back to green!

We have begun Maths sessions in the morning starting by counting objects around our classroom and learning number rules. Also, we have been discovering number patters when writing numbers 0-5. Next week, the children will be learning to write these numbers independently, ordering and counting cohesively.

These meetings will be recorded and shared with you if you are unable to attend.

Your child will be coming home with some WOW moments. If your child achieves a new goal, or has worked hard on something, we would love this to be shared at school. Please fill in the WOW moment slip and bring it to school for us to share.
