One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly News w/b 10.10.22

What a fantastic week Team Indigo and Team Royal have had. Take a look at what we have been learning.

Dress up Day

We were all really excited to dress up as people from the past and show you all our wonderful learning in assembly, we were all so proud of them.

Maths

This week in maths we have been focusing on adding and subtracting two 2-digit numbers using a 200 square. Firstly, we had to look and see if we needed to add or subtract. Next, we looked for the biggest number and circled it on our 200 square and partitioned the smallest number we then added the tens then the ones or subtracted the tens then the ones to find our answer.

RWI/English

This week in RWI and English we have been concentrating on our set 3 sounds and re-reading our sentences to check it makes sense. We have also been checking for capital letters, spelling mistakes and full stops.

Topic

This week in Topic we have been artists and looked at sculptures in Kent and the different materials used to make them. We then decided to plan and make our own sculptures out of natural materials in the forest school. We ended our week with our dress up day and an end of topic quiz!

SPaG

This week in SPaG, we have been focusing our learning on how to use apostrophes to form contractions.

PE

This week, we have welcomed an Athletics expert, Darren, into our PE lesson.  We demonstrated what we had learned this term and he developed our skills further through some fun activities.  At the end of the session, there was a chance for us to ask him some questions about athletics and how we can continue to stay fit and healthy.

Next week in:

Next week in maths we will be learning about time.

Next week we will be introduced to our first R.E lesson in Year 2. We are learning about Leaders and Teachers.
