One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly News! 17.05.24

What a great week Team Aqua and Team Topaz have had Check out what we have been up to!

This week in Maths, we have been looking at time. The children really impressed us with their time knowledge in o’clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past. We even challenged ourselves and looked at every 5 minutes to and past the hour!

On Friday we investigated different combinations of coins to find the same value with our partner. We started with finding different combinations to make 10p and challenged ourselves all the way to £1!

Next week we will be looking at money!

Fact of the week!

Next week our Fact of the Week is 3 X 10 = 30

This week in English we have continued the book The Lonely Beast by Chris Judge. This week we have been working hard writing sentences that are accurate and interesting for the reader. On Monday, we played a sentence construction building game and built sentences by adding detail at each step. For example,

On Tuesday we continued to look at constructing sentences accurately and used Monday’s lesson to help us with our writing. On Wednesday we looked at varying our sentence openers to make it more interesting for the reader. On Thursday we went through and edited and improved our learning.

Next week we will be using all our skills we have learnt to write a newspaper report.

Guided Reading

This week we learnt the difference between narrative and dialogue. We used our best Beast voice to speak just like him and act like him too!

This week we were designers and designed our very own mitten! On Friday, we even got to make out mittens by joining the two materials together using the running stitch, over stitch, glue or stapling.

Next week we will begin our R.E and we will be looking at Christians Rites of Passage.
