One Childhood, One Chance

Year 3 Weekly News - 24.3.23

Firstly, thank you so much for coming to the class assembly this week. We loved showing you our learning and we hope you enjoyed it. We also loved showing you our books on Friday - it's great to look back and see how much progress we've made!

English

This week we have been learning how to write conversations using dialogue. We started off by practising our punctuation and using inverted commas. We then wrote sentences using dialogue and reporting clauses. Finally, we wrote a section of story using dialogue after planning with Mr Allen.

Next week we will be finishing 'The Magic Faraway Tree' and writing our own five part narrative, where our characters go up to a new land. We will be putting all of our story writing skills into action.

In spelling we have been learning the rule for adding ed to root words. Please practise the following words:

Pin on Writing

Maths

This week we have continued to learn about money. We have been adding up different amounts and finding change by using a number line.

Thematic

This week we have been designers and learning all about pneumatics. We used syringes and tubes to make our toys move up and down. We were incredibly creative and made sure our designs were appealing to the consumer. Next week we will have our end of unit quiz where we show what we can remember about all of our learning in Science and Technology. We will also be learning RE, exploring Jewish festivals.

Love to Learn

We have set a task on MyOn to get the children to read around our theme before our quiz. There are lots of books about magnets to choose from. Please look for this when you log in to your account:
