And just like that, we have come to the end of term 5 and what a week we've had! It's been jam-packed with excitement and ‘WOW moments’ as the children truly shone in displaying their determination, passion, self-belief, respect, teamwork, and honesty through our Viking Games. It was heartening to witness their spirit and sportsmanship throughout the activities. Thank you all for your suppoet watching the parade, the children really enjoyed showcasing their dance moves!

The highlight of our week was undoubtedly the visit to the Marlow Theatre to see the adaptation of 'The Boy at the Back of the Class', our chosen text from last term. The children were spellbound as they watched the characters they had come to love, leap from the pages of the book onto the stage. Their faces lit up with joy, and it was a pleasure to share that experience with them.

Term 5 has been a whirlwind of activity, but the children have truly exceeded our expectations. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to learn have been a source of inspiration for all of us. We couldn't be prouder of the progress they've made and the growth we've witnessed in each and every one of them.

We have been diving into the world of suspense writing, exploring different techniques to create tension and intrigue in our stories…

The children have been putting their knowledge of various literary devices into practice. From fronted adverbials and verbs with adverbs to show-not-tell devices and rhetorical questions, they have been weaving these elements seamlessly into their narratives. Their use of short, snappy sentences and ellipsis has truly heightened the suspense in their writing!

The classroom has been buzzing with creativity, and the students have thoroughly enjoyed crafting their own stories filled with twists and turns. It has been such a pleasure to see them engage with the genre and unleash their imaginations to scare us all with their creepy tales!!!

We encourage you to ask your child about their story-writing process. Perhaps they can share with you some of the techniques they have learnt and how they have applied them in their own work.

It's been all about position and direction skills and the children have been absolutely smashing it!

We've been diving into the X and Y axis (along the corridor and up the stairs) - and we have got the hang of it like pros. They're now masters at reading coordinates and plotting points on a graph, which we are super proud of. To top it off, we've even challenged ourselves and are plotting coordinates to create some pretty cool polygons!

Over the past few weeks, we've delved into the world of Buddhism. Through our lessons, the children have learned about the core beliefs of Buddhists, as well as the significance of special ceremonies in their faith. It's been fascinating to see how Buddhism shapes the lives of its followers.

In class, we've also taken the time to explore the different ways Buddhists worship. This has led to some thought-provoking discussions, with the children drawing comparisons between Buddhism and other religions they are familiar with.

The children did a fantastic job at retelling the story of how Siddhartha Gautama became Buddha and why Buddhists celebrate Vesak today.
