Friday 9th December
Year 5 have had an amazing penultimate week of term. Here is what we have been up to:
In maths, we have been using our measuring skills to solve problems using the four operations. We have revised how to use the bar model to represent calculations and used the acronym RUCSAC to help us break the problems down.
Next week we will be completing maths investigations involving statistics.
This week, we have continued to write our space themed narratives. We focussed on using a range of sentence structures to build suspense in our writing.
Next week we will finish reading our book 'The Jamie Drake Equation' and finish off our narratives.
In the afternoons this week we have been finishing off our Stargazers topic and rehearsing for our Christmas production next week.
Our performance will be on Wednesday 14th December. Doors will open for family members at 2:20 for a 2:39 start. Please send your children in with a Christmas jumper/outfit to get changed into on this day.
On Thursday we will be having our Christmas party. Children may come to school in their party clothes on this day. Information on what to bring in has been sent home.
Friday is Christmas jumper day. Children can wear their Christmas jumpers in lieu of their school jumpers on this day. This is also the final day of term and we will be finishing at 2pm.
Term 3 begins on Wednesday 4th January.
There is no PE or sports project next week. Next term, Year 5 will be doing PE on Wednesday. Sports Project will be on Tuesday.
This week, the home learning is to rehearse the following songs for our Christmas performance:
Deck the Halls
Merry Christmas Everyone
Merry Christmas Everybody
