Year 5 Weekly News 17.11.23

What a wonderful week Year 5 have had! Here's what we've been up to:

English

In English this week we have continued our book called ‘The Jamie Drake Equation’. We have been working on writing to show viewpoint. As Jamie’s dad is in space, we have been writing diary entries and emails to show how Jamie and his dad have been feeling. We have also concentrated on informal language and including embedded clauses in our writing.

Maths

This week, we have been learning about the properties of shapes. We began the week by estimating and comparing angles. We looked at acute, obtuse and reflex angles. We also looked the properties of 2-D shapes and irregular and regular polygons.

PSHE

This week, it has been Anti Bullying week. We have had lots of conversations around bullying, what it is and what we need to do if we see anyone being bullied. We also had a visit from Kent police to talk about bullying. Furthermore, we have concentrated on empathy and how we can show empathy.

Home Learning

This week for home learning, we would like the children to create their own kindness posters. It needs to include what you need to be kind, how you show kindness and how important being kind to other is.
