Term 2 Week 1
Please enter an introduction for your blog post here.
Welcome back to Term 2! This week our children have enjoyed learning about healthy relationships in our topic lessons. We have read the story of The Colour Monster, speaking about the different emotions we can feel and strategies that we can use to calm down when feeling upset or angry. The children have come up with their own 'calm down' strategies like taking deep breaths, counting to 10, reading a story or asking an adult for help.
We have had so much fun during busy time with our Halloween themed learning. We have explored the texture of soggy orange rice, squishy satsumas and slimy pumpkin seeds. We have also been creative; drawing, painting and printing beautiful pictures of pumpkin patches. We have particularly enjoyed our spooky house role play.
Last term we learned how to write so many sounds and we are really putting those skills into practise this term. We have been writing in cards, on envelopes, in notebooks, on large paper and on whiteboards. We are so proud to see some of our fantastic work in our Learning Journey books!
We have confidently spoken in front of our Teams about what we have been busy doing over half term and we even practised taking turns to talk to our partners.
In maths this week we have been learning to find one more and one less than numbers to 10. This is still a tricky concept and we will continue to practise this in our daily routines. For example, our teachers might say "We have one more than 4 bikes out today. How many do we have?"
We absolutely loved having some of our grown ups come and read with us at the end of the day on Friday. Our classrooms will open at 3.00 every Friday so that we can read with you inside the classroom or out in the garden. Please remember that home time is still 3.15.
Date for your diary:
Open Class - Thursday 14th November - 3.15 - 4.00. Come into the classroom and see our lovely learning.
