Chilton Primary School

One Childhood, One Chance

Head's Up 25th April 2025

Dear Families,

I hope you all had a lovely Easter break and that it brought a chance for some rest and recuperation for you and your families. As we return to school for term 5, things have got off to a flying start! There has already been some wonderful learning happening across the school, and a number of exciting experiences for the children to enjoy.

This week, Year 5 ventured out on a local area walk as part of their topic work, and our Junior Leadership Team visited Ramsgate Arts Primary to collaborate on how they can further enhance the school experience for children across the Trust. Their ideas and enthusiasm continue to impress us all!

Speaking of improvements — I hope you’ve noticed the vibrant new line markings on our playgrounds. Combined with the amazing facelift given to the Reception and Key Stage 1 outdoor areas by our brilliant Chilton volunteers last term, the school grounds have truly been transformed. I’m sure you’ll agree, the spaces look incredible — I know I’m dazzled every time I walk through!

Another exciting addition is our brand new Scooter Park, which opened this week. It has already brought huge smiles and excitement, transforming a previously unused part of the school grounds into a buzzing hub of fun and activity. It’s another step in our ongoing mission to make Chilton the happiest and most exciting place to come to school.

I’m also extremely proud to share that Chilton has officially been recognised as a Centre of Excellence in one of the key areas of Thrive. We are the first school in Thanet to achieve this status — a true testament to our unwavering commitment to the emotional wellbeing of our children. There are four further ‘excellence’ areas we can strive for, and we absolutely will.

Yesterday saw our very first Come Dine With Me Picnic — what a joy! The sun shone down, and it was a fantastic event full of energy and smiles. Families were able to relax on our beautiful field, enjoy a delicious lunch, and get a taste of the exciting playtime experiences we now offer. From den-building in the Forest School to mud kitchen creations, obstacle course challenges and climbing our tyre mountain, there was something for everyone! We can’t wait to welcome Years 2 to 6 families next week to enjoy their turn.

Next week also marks the return of our much-loved class assemblies. First up is Year 5 on Wednesday 30th April at 2:45pm — we’re looking forward to seeing lots of you there to celebrate the children’s learning.

It has been such a joyful start to the term. I hope your children have enjoyed their first week back as much as I have.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to seeing you next week.

Warm regards,
Mr McAuley
