Year 3 have had an amazing week to kick off Term 5! Here's what we've been up to:
Maths 
In Maths this week, we have been focusing on read and writing numbers as words up to 1000. We then moved on to look at patterns in addition. Next week, we will be rounding to estimate answers in both additions and subtractions and using the inverse to check our answers. 

English
This week, we have been focusing on writing non-choronological reports about spiders. We planned and structured our reports, used statements and questions, used a range of compound sentences and used a range of punctuation. Next week, we will begin reading our Term 5 text 'Charlotte's Web'. 

Thematic
This week, we started our new Term 5 thematic unit 'Mayans: The rise and fall'. We began our geography unit by looking at the geography of South America. We then investigated some cities from Mesoamerica, found them on the map and researched information about them. Next week, we will move on to history and will compare what life was like for Mayans compared to Britons at the time. 

Love to Learn

For the children's love to learn this week, could they create a non chronological report about something that they are interested in. They can present the report in a creative way of their choosing but we would like to see statements, questions, compound sentences and bullet points.

29th April – Year 3 Come dine with me picnic at 12.10pm

5th May – Bank Holiday

6th May – Thrive Coffee Afternoon at 3.30pm

8th May – Year 3 class assembly 2.50-3.05

23rd May – Be here, Be you, Belong celebration. Children can come to school wearing anything they feel represents them as part of our ‘Dress to Express’ day. We will have a parade at 2pm on the field to celebrate this, to which our families are all invited.
