Please see below the letter regarding the Year 6 Production...

Dear Year 6 Families,

We are delighted to invite you to this year’s Year 6 performance: Pure Imagination — a magical celebration inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.

Our Year 6 children have already begun rehearsals and are working incredibly hard to make this production a show to remember. These end-of-year performances were always a cherished Chilton tradition, and those of you with older children may remember just how emotional and joyful they are. We’re absolutely thrilled to be bringing them back in full spirit this year!

To ensure all Year 6 families have the opportunity to attend, there will be two evening performances of Pure Imagination

  • Tuesday 8th July at 6:00pm

  • Wednesday 9th July at 6:00pm

Each show will run for approximately 90 minutes, finishing around 7:30pm. We ask that children return to school between 5:15pm–5:30pm on performance nights to allow time to get into costume and set up.

Tickets will be available to book via your MyChildAtSchool app, with up to 4 tickets per family, per night. While you are welcome to attend both evenings, we kindly ask that all families ensure they are able to see their child perform on at least one night before booking extra tickets.

Rather than charging a set ticket price, we will be collecting donations at the time of booking your tickets. All money raised will go towards funding the Year 6 end-of-year celebrations — including leavers’ t-shirts and keepsakes etc.

We will also be selling delicious Wonka Bars during both performances (cash), with more golden opportunities to raise funds for our brilliant leavers – one Wonka Bar will have a golden ticket.

The children and staff have poured so much energy, effort, and creativity into this performance. We cannot wait to welcome you to what promises to be a truly special and memorable evening — a fitting finale to your child’s time at Chilton.

With warm regards,

Mr McAuley

Learning this Week:

This week we had a visit from the police, who shared information with the children on how to be safe out and about within the local community. They also spoke to the children about their transition to secondary school and any useful strategies that the children might find helpful.

Also this week, as part of the national Science share, the year 6 children spoke about their question, 'How can we prove there is air?' to the year 5 children. The year six children were inspired by their trip to the Pfizer Jamboree and discussed many of the workshops that they experienced as well as their prior knowledge. The year 5 children shared their question of 'How can we separate the materials?' There was a carousel of activities for the children to learn from and engage with each other about their scientific learning.

The children have continued to rehearse their Year 6 production. We are incredibly proud of how their production is coming along. The 'props' crew have started painting and constructing various elements of the set design and the dancers have continued to choreograph their dance routine. The children acting have really focused on their expression and body language in trying to represent their characters.

We have continued to read our class text, 'The London Eye Mystery', where the children have been making predictions on the disappearance of one of the characters. Many theories have been discussed, including those stated in the text itself. The children have evaluated which are most likely and provided evidence from the text to justify their reasoning. The children have continued to clarify unknown vocabulary and summarise what has been read.
