The big smiles all round tell the story – the new pupils joining Chilton Primary in Ramsgate are already having the time of their lives.
Pupils aged four and five years old are being eased into life at ‘big school’ with fun and friendship through a range of learning activities.
Kirby Walker is Early Years lead. She said: “It has been a very positive start for our little ones joining us this September as they take their first steps into school life.
“The start of Reception marks an exciting milestone for children and families - staff have been working hard to ensure a smooth and positive transition for every pupil.
“They have quickly settled into their new routines, embracing classroom activities, outdoor play, and the opportunity to form new friendships.
“We are delighted to see how well they have adapted. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and confidence are growing each day, and we are proud to support them as they begin their educational journey.”
From day one teachers and support staff created a nurturing environment to welcome them where they feel safe, happy, and ready to learn.
Deputy Head of School Hannah Cheshire added: “The children have got to know the staff and each other, and gain confidence in their new environment as part of this crucial transitional period in their young lives.
“They are already showing the 'Chilton Way' and are part of our Chilton family.”
This term the new intake will start to learn their basic literacy and numeracy skills, focusing on knowing their sounds and counting.
Forthcoming topic work will be Marvellous Me where they explore themselves, their families and their immediate school and social communities.
The Reception classes are Team Periwinkle with Mrs Walker and Team Teal with Mrs N Cotton.
Chilton Primary is part of the Viking Academy Trust with partner schools Upton Juniors and Ramsgate Arts Primary.
