Reading for Pleasure
This week the children explored song lyrics in their Reading for Pleasure lessons. The children read out their lyrics and the children tried to guess the song – we all had an amazing time! Next week will be looking at nursery rhymes and their true meanings!
English
This week the children started to read a new book: Skellig. The children described a setting from the story using ambitious vocabulary and figurative language. Next week, the children will be looking at a character in our new book and will spend time describing.
Maths
This week the children revisited multiplying and dividing by 10,100 and 1000 mentally. They also explored multiples and factors. Next week the children will be looking at time (both analogue and digital) and then exploring differences in time. If the children have a watch, please can they wear it at school.
Thematic
This week the children have started their new thematic topic – My home, my country. They spent time answering their Big Question: Is it ever okay to invade another country? They worked in groups to answer this question. The children then explored a historical timeline, placing Romans, Saxons, Vikings and Normans in chronological order.
