Our focus this week was poetry in Year 6 linked to our book Skellig and William Blake. We read and explored the poem ‘Dream’ by William Blake then planned and wrote their own poem. Year 6 also explored William Blake’s artwork and used his themes as a basis to decorate their own poems about winter. Next week, the children will plan and write their own narrative linked to the text Skellig.
Maths
We focused on 2D shapes this week and their properties. We also looked at the various types of lines and triangles. The children spent time exploring problems linked to 2D shapes. Next week, Year 6 will look at 3D shapes and volume.

This week we continued learning about the Vikings and their legacy and Year 6 took park in a Big Fat Quiz of the term! The children visited the replica Viking ship at Cliffsend where they drew the ship and hunted for Viking words and used Viking Runes to communicate to each other!
